The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially welcomed the newly appointed members of its Board and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) Board, following their appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The NCC’s leadership, under the guidance of the Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida, expressed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s digital economy in collaboration with the new team.
The new appointments, as announced by the Presidency, include Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as the Chairman-designate of the NCC’s Board. The NCC stated that the new leadership team comprises “highly esteemed individuals of proven competence, with vast experience and impressive track records.” The Commission anticipates that their collective expertise will provide the necessary impetus to further transform Nigeria’s digital communications industry.
According to the NCC, the new Board members are expected to bring a wealth of knowledge, strategic insight, and strong governance to enhance the Commission’s regulatory work. Their leadership is seen as crucial for steering the communications sector in a direction that supports the nation’s broader digital ambitions.

Dr. Aminu Maida, in a statement, conveyed the NCC’s profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointments. The collaboration aims to deliver on the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” for Nigeria’s digital economy, focusing on key initiatives that will drive growth and innovation.
The new Board is expected to play a critical role in overseeing the NCC’s regulatory functions, ensuring a conducive environment for telecommunications operators, and expanding digital access across the country. The USPF Board members, also appointed, will focus on deepening connectivity in unserved and underserved areas.
