Global Money Week: Unity Bank Reiterates Commitment Towards Youth Financial Literacy

In honor of Global Money Week 2025, Unity Bank Plc reaffirmed its dedication to fostering financial literacy among Nigeria’s youth by conducting financial education sessions across 13 secondary schools nationwide.

The initiative aligns with the theme, “Think before you follow, wise money tomorrow,” emphasizing the importance of critical thinking and responsible decision-making amid social media influences and digital distractions.

The Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Ebenezer Kolawole, underscored the significance of early financial education during a session at Boys Model Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State. Represented by the Zonal Head for South South/South East, Mr. William Odigie, Mr. Kolawole shared practical insights on cultivating savings, making sound investments, and managing finances responsibly—particularly online. He advised students to develop habits that promote financial discipline, emphasizing that “how wisely you manage your money now will determine your financial future.”

Throughout the day, Unity Bank facilitators engaged students in interactive discussions, practical exercises, and quizzes at each of the 13 participating schools. Outstanding students were recognized and awarded branded gifts, reinforcing the importance of financial literacy through experiential learning.

The Global Money Week outreach complements Unity Bank’s recent launch of the **GenFi** digital banking app—a youth-centric platform designed to teach children and teens about smart money management through gamification, goal-setting, and parental involvement.
