CPN intensifies campaign against unregistered Pratitioners

…..as group unfold plans to 2019 IT Assembly.

The Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) CPN has intensified its campaign all unregistered ICT Practitioners in the country.

The body has thereby warned ICT  professionals who are practicing without registering with the council that they would be considered as quacks and will be penalized according to the law of the land.

This resolution was made in CPN media executive forum held in Lagos

According to the President/Chairman-in-Council, CPN, Prof Charles Uwadia council’s desire is to have as many registered professionals as possible, while noting also that there are a lot of benefits that would be derived from being a registered member of the council.

“We are mandated to regularly publish list of licensed members of the council and anybody whose name is not in our register is considered as a quack.

“Implementation of the law is very important in this country and as for us in the council; we desire to have as many registered professionals as possible.

He furthered explained further that the Act upon which the council was established,  mandated it to determine the standards of knowledge and skills to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the computing profession and improve those standards from time to time as circumstances may permit.

Uwadia thereby urged  unregistered practitioners to endeavor to register lawfully noting that there are numerous benefits for  registered.

“Anyone that is part of us will derive the benefit that’s accrued to every member of the council.

“And anybody that is not part of us and he or she is practicing is going against the law of the land and should be penalized accordingly.” he stated.

However, the Registrar/Secretary, CPN, , Allwell Achumba said the forum was organized to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the media and council.

He noted that the media is critical in highlighting the importance of professionalism in the information technology sector in the country.

In addition, the body stated that its forthcoming 2019 IT Assembly summit has been billed to hold from Wednesday 26th – Thursday 27th of June, at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

Speaking on this, the Vice-President/Vice Chairman-in-council, CPN, Kole Jagun highlighted that Assembly will provide a national discussion on the emerging issues in the IT sectors as well as generate recommendations and decisions that will impart positively on the industry and the nation in general.

To lead discussions at the event are Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Charles Ayo, Former Vice- Chancellor, University, Engr Chidi Nwafor, Director, IT, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
